The “ Villa del Ferlaro” was built on the site of an old Hunting lodge to become private residence of the imperial family.Napoleon Bonaparte, emperor of France and King of Italy, had married in a second marriage Maria Luigia D’ Austria, Duchess of Parma and Piacenza, The property had been bought from the Borbone family and the Duchess enlarged a small hunting lodge into a huge building in Palladian neoclassical style under the direction of the Arch. Paolo Gazzola, court engineer, who was working at Teatro Regio too. the magnificent English park was designed by Bevizius, the royal gardener. The house was destinated to her children, born from Neiperg and Maria Luigia and its everlasting elegance tells of its past history, of the glory and splendour of the Napoleonic Empire. The house is surrounded by a wide park, full of ancient trees like cedars, exotic plants, black pines and so on , and it is the natural house for deer, roes,phaseants and hares. The Villa is divided into three buildings of two and three floors with many sitting rooms, dining rooms, a large kitchen, a library, a bar with a fireplace, a cinema and a theatre. At the secon floor we have many bedrooms with private bathrooms.In the western part we also have three independent flats. The total surface is 4000 Square meters in good conditions. Between the park and the building a nice swimming pool of 250 square meters takes place. Nowadays the building is commonly used for parties, ceremonies, weddings, events in general.
